What’s happened this fortnight 20th January 2019

Our MP made the national news by delaying the birth of her son to be able to vote in Parliament. Welcome to Raphael! We hope to meet him soon in Grange Park.

There are rooms for rent at the listed Animal Dispensary in Cambridge Avenue. Surely this historical building has not been turned into a HMO (house in multiple occupation)?

The AGAIN for good, while a portion of the never opened co-working space at 286-290 Kilburn High Road has been taken up by a Fairy Balloons company. Bake & Cake at 178 Kilburn High Road moved to Edgware Road. Amore Beauty at 161 Kilburn High road has become of phone shop while Opulence Estate Agents at 310 Kilburn High Road has become a beauty salon. These 2 businesses did not even bother to change their shop signage…

Piccolo Cafe at 340 Kilburn High Road is refurbishing.

Stone Real Estate, the firm behind the development  “Park View” of 254 Kilburn High Road, have blocked us on Twitter after we alerted you to a planning application to increase the size of the development by 6 units, utilising a “services” floor for more residential accomodation. Please object by the 4th February on the basis of lack of affordable housing and the increase of height, ie reduction of sunlight in Grange Park.

Well done to the Watling Gardens TMO for securing funding from the National Lottery.

Fancy organising a community festival in Kilburn. Now is the time to apply for a grant from Camden Council.

Want to learn salsa? Classes in Kilburn.

If you are tempted by ceramics, a course starts on 23rd January in Kingsgate Workshops.

The “pigeon” tree in Kilburn Square is in full bloom while one of the persons responsible for its vigour has been spotted. It would be nice that the culprits are prevented from feeding the pigeons.

“Approaching Empty” started at our Theatre. The play has very good reviews and the expected silent protest from “Our Tricycle” campaigners took place on opening night.

Ofo (bike sharing scheme operating in Camden) have pulled out of London, while Limebikes decidedly think it is OK to clutter Camden pavements with their bikes. Limebikes have a license to operate in Brent, but not Camden.

Esmond Road was the scene of a murder, a long time ago…

If your teenagers want to be entrepreneurs, this is for them at the Granville.

Comedy nights are a success at the North London Tavern on Tuesdays. Last Tuesday with sold out. Here is the line up for this week.

Great news that the Queen’s Park Book Festival has been confirmed for 2019, while the dates of the Canal Carnival in Little Venice have been released. Events we very much look forward to…
