Beatrix Potter and Kilburn

Children’s writer Beatrix Potter, stayed with the elderly Miss Florrie Hammond, who was her first
governess, at 51 Minster Road in July 1905.

Norman Warne who was her publisher, had proposed marriage on 25 July 1905 and Beatrix had accepted. But before the wedding took place he
tragically died from leukemia on 25 August at his home in 8 Bedford Square.
