DESCRIPTION:Join us and Cleon Roberts\, Sonny’s daughter for an afternoon of celebration of Sonny Roberts’s contribution to the music industry. \n\n\n\nSonny Roberts opened Planetone\, the first UK black owned music recording studio at 108 Cambridge Road\, Kilburn in 1961. \n\n\n\nThe premises were shared with Island Records and Trojan Records. \n\n\n\nHe went on to produce many firsts\, as well as creating hit records for UB40 and Judy Boucher. \n\n\n\nHe was a music trailblazer. \n\n\n\nThe event starts at 3pm. \n\n\n\n\nTalk by Cleon Roberts about her father’s legacy. The presentation will include music and pictures. There will be plenty of time for a “questions and answers” session.\n\n\n\nLive music performance by Ciyo who worked with Sonny.\n\n\n\nEnjoy a drink and a patty (chargeable). All proceeds of drinks and patties sales will go towards the maintenance of the Tin Tabernacle\n\n\n\nEnjoy the interiors of the wonderful Tin Tabernacle \, a grade 2 listed building also known as TS Bicester\, the home of the Willesden Sea Cadets.\n\n\n\n\nWhat you need to know: \n\n\n\n\nFREE event– refreshments and food incur a charge.\n\n\n\nThe building is accessed via a few steps. If you experience mobility issues\, please send us a message after booking so we can install a ramp.\n\n\n\nToilets on site but no disabled toilet. If needed \, disabled toilets are available at the nearby public library or pub.\n\n\n\nLimited spaces\, so please book in advance to garantee a space- A few spaces will be available on the day for those who find it difficult to book online.\n\n\n\nDonations towards the maintenance of the Tin Tabernacle will be greatly appreciated.\n\n\n\nCash and card payments on the day.\n\n\n\n\nWith great thanks to the team at the Tin Tabernacle for kindly offering the use of the space and the organisation and to Cleon Roberts for agreeing to bring to life an important part of Kilburn’s music history. Slow laptops\, broken printers\, coffee grinders\, lamps\, kettles\, vacuums and many other small electrical items! We’ll help you figure out the problem and give help and advice on how to fix it. \nRestart Parties promote the repair and maintenance of electronics that may otherwise be thrown away. Our volunteers will help you learn to fix\, we’re not simply a free repair service and we can’t guarantee to fix everything. \nDO:\nCheck if your device is still within warranty\, you may be eligible for a free repair\, replacement or a refund. (Which? helps in the UK).\nTake responsibility for your device and your data. Our volunteers are there to help you learn to fix your gadget\, not to provide a free repair service. Please back up your data before the event.\nCharge up your device and bring all leads and adaptors.\nGet in touch with organisers if you have any questions about whether a fix is possible.\nDonate to support our work\nDON’T:\nAssume repairs will be successful. DESCRIPTION:Fancy a workout in aid of one of our Landmark building\, the Tin Tabenacle? \n\n\n\nPlease join us on Saturday. We will aim to cut back the invasive vegetation at the back of the building\, sort out what we can reuse from the piles of stuff accumulated at the back. \n\n\n\nAll welcome.  \n\n\n\nPlease bring gardening gloves if you own some and hand saws. If you do not have any equipment\, no worries\, we have some.  \n\n\n\nIf you cannot spare 3 hours\, you are also welcome for a shorter time. Just show up at the door of the building and you will be directed to the garden area. \n\n\n\nRefreshments provided.
